Chef of the Gara Itsasoa

A Basque chef, born in San Sebastián, his culinary cradle.
He studied cooking with the master Luis Irizar and in the homes of other great chefs from the Basque Country, Navarre, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Catalonia.
He also ran his family restaurant, “Urepel,” a classic and now nostalgic establishment in the city of San Sebastián.

Qualifications & Experience

International cuisine is one of his passions, having worked in various countries and continents, including Canada, Algeria, France, Indonesia, the United States, Puerto Rico, Japan, and Australia.
This allows us to enjoy a wide variety of culinary styles on board. Asian, Kosher, Indian, Halal, and excellent pastries are all part of his repertoire, in addition to Basque and Mediterranean cuisine, which he handles with ease.
He is a certified chef, capable of designing menus and diets adapted to different health conditions.
And his cooking style is simply superb and magical.
He has been a part of our team for years because he is a good friend, a sailing enthusiast, and a great lover of the sea.

The Cook is responsible for preparing all meals on board, focusing on locally sourced and organic ingredients. In addition to meal preparation, he manages the kitchen, coordinates food supplies, and ensures that meals cater to the passengers’ dietary preferences and needs.
