Gara Itsasoa

Scientific Research

A crucial component of this campaign is the use of Gara Itsasoa as a research vessel designed to collect water and biological samples in order to gather oceanographic data. This vessel is equipped with advanced technology to monitor water quality and analyze the presence of microplastics and other pollutants. The collected data is essential for gaining a better understanding of the state of marine ecosystems and developing effective strategies for their protection.

Gara Itsasoa is equipped with:

· A dry laboratory equipped with a workspace for the classification and preservation of collected samples and another area for data recording.

· In the aft cockpit area, there is another wet laboratory where the collected samples arrive.

· On both sides of the stern, it has two outriggers for sampling microplastics, plankton, etc.

· On the starboard side, midship, there is a davit with a hydraulic winch, specially designed for water sampling up to a depth of 800m. For this purpose, we have a Rosette AWS 1000.
